Aside from my Celtic reconstruction-based religion another important aspect of my life is self-sufficiency. To me, personally, it goes hand in hand with my religious practice, and it is something that gives me great feelings of pride. What better gift is there to offer the deities, spirits and ancestors, than to give something you've nurtured and helped grow.
What more joy is there to take the autumn fruits, or the spring oak leaves, or the honey from the bees and to create your own wine, beer or cider? And return their seasonal gifts with nurturing so that you may share in their offerings to you for many years to come.

I strive to one day become completely self-sufficient. With energy harvested from sun, wind and rain. All materials being recycled through food and compost. Rain water collected to irrigate the garden patches or even flush the toilet. Life-stock to take care of 'waste' disposal (pigs) and work along side ourselves until the day comes they'll provide us with food.

John Seymour, needless to say, is one of my great heroes. His books give me great pleasure and copious ideas for living. Life is hard work, but work is rewarding. I agree with that fact that today's society seems to shy away from work, and when something can be replaced by a machine it is joyously welcomed as 'progress'. What is so wrong about working yourself to a sweat prepping the land for new materials?

I've been eying the Killowen Smallholding for courses for the next year, but 625,- euro is a bit steep for me. Still, my books are all to me, and with them I feel I'm getting a wee bit closer to achieving my goal each year when another self-sufficient chapter is added to my life.

Man, I think my wireless router must be dead or something. After talking with Comcast and a few hours of trying to reset up my wireless network, I can't figure anything out. Both of my computers detect my wireness network just fine and can connect. But I can't actually get anything to load on the internet. Foo. At least, until I get a new one, I can sap off of someone else's wireless.

Time for Success
EPHESIANS 5:15-17

Every night before falling asleep, I write down my goals for the following day. Upon waking, I read through the list in order to focus my energy on what is most important. If this were not part of my routine, the limited hours available would not be utilized effectively.

The Bible clearly teaches us to use our days wisely. Time is a gift. Almighty God has given each person a span of days to live on earth. But our life is fleeting and uncertain—James compares it to a vapor that "appears for a little while and then vanishes away" (James 4:14). Time is also irrevocable—we cannot hit "rewind" and undo anything.

Considering this, it is foolish to waste such a precious resource. But so often, we do. Be alert to avoid these hindrances to living each moment fully and purposefully:

  • Misplaced priorities result in wasted opportunities. Our values will determine the emphasis we place on each activity and the amount of time we allot to it.
  • Procrastination and perfectionism soak up valuable time that could have been used to benefit the kingdom.
  • Lack of concentration drains time of its potential. For example, we have to train ourselves to focus on reading God's Word and not to get sidetracked.

What values drive the way you utilize your time? Is there something that keeps you from living each moment in a way that pleases the Lord? You will never have a chance to live today again. Therefore, ask God for guidance and direction so that you can live each day with intention.

krampus_printed

Krampus postcards arrived today! They look cool, i love rounded edges :D

They are available to buy here:

missmonster.bigcartel.com/

Packs of 6 or 12 ! Limited to 200 for now. If they blow up and people buy the hell out of them, i may do another edition but with different coloring so the first edition is unique.

EDIT: Cards are sold out! Iam working on the second edition. Background will be a festive green and some colors on Krampus will be tweaked to stay harmonious. Should be out next week as another edition of 200.
